Our Redemption

You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. Psalm 77:14

On February 2nd, 1994 our lives changed forever.

Scott was seeing a young lady who went to church. She said to him. “I can only date you if you decide to go to church with me”. Scott didn’t believe in the things of church but he wanted to be with her so he went on a Sunday morning to Hardee town Baptist church in Chiefland Florida.

The Pastor during that time was Larry Knight. If you know anything about the Baptist church, if you attend on Sunday, they will visit your house on Monday evening. And they did.

Scott allowed them to come in for a visit, Larry Knight and Chris Ferger, the choir director. They chatted for awhile and Larry shared the gospel story with Scott. One final question Larry asked, “Is there any reason you wouldn’t want to accept Jesus as your Savior?” At the sound of the question, Scott asked them to leave and said he was doing fine on his own, he didn’t need Jesus.

As they were getting ready to leave with sadness in their hearts, Larry turned to Scott and said, “If you ever need anything, my office is always open to you.”

The next day as Scott was making his way to work going down us 19 with his truck and backhoe, Jesus got his attention. He describes it as though Jesus was sitting next to him and he tapped him on the head and said, Your fine right, your wife and kids are gone and your life is a mess…

At that he turned his truck around in the highway and made his way to Larry’s office. That day he accepted Christ as his Savior into his heart. From that moment on Larry became a disciple of Scott and his life forever changed. He gave up drinking, and the things he did on a daily basis and he became a disciple of the word.

I would like to say at this point our custody battle stopped but it didn’t. We proceeded.

Scott would share the things of the Lord with me during telephone calls. I thought it was an at to get our kids from me. I remained with my parents and lived a lifestyle that wasn’t pleasing to the Lord.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Scott continued to date the young lady and attending the Baptist church. We were will still in battle. I remember one night as I questioned many things, I asked God an important question, “God, I said, If you are real then can you please show yourself to me!” I was about to see the living God displayed in my life.

Scott attended a pastor conference with Larry and Chris. Not something he wanted to do, but God wanted him to. He was in the sessions and the whole theme that weekend was about family. He describes it again as if Jesus were there and he said to Scott, “You agree with everything but your family is gone. I want you to leave the conference go call your wife and go get her in Pennsylvania.

He did!

I got the call from him that afternoon. He said he was coming to get me and the kids, and we were getting back together.

WHAT!!!!

I gave him a few choice words and told him not to waste his time and hung up the phone.

People were praying…

Churches were praying…

God was listening…

When you ask God to show himself real to you, He will. He is in the business of restoration. Turning ashes to beauty. He was about to change my heart for a heart like His.

Scott entered my place of work. I was a barmaid for J&R steakhouse. He stepped in and sat a far off. I was in shock to say the least. He asked me to get a bite to eat and a coffee. I agreed.

This is the moment that God heard the prayers of His people. My heart of stone towards my husband began to soften. I was listening. I don’t remember every word that night, but I know that God changed my heart.

I went back with my husband!

We packed up my belongings and off to Chiefland Florida I went. No questions asked. I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do…A heart change!

Obedience to a God I didn’t even know.

On the following page you will see God’s glory and how he restored our lives. It’s truly a miracle, only something God could do. That’s why I wanted to share my story. Only to give Him the praise and the glory!

Our Lives Restored
